A close-up, photographic view of a baptismal tank built into a church stage, the water perfectly still and crystal clear, reflecting overhead stage lights in shimmering patterns. The tank is framed by smooth, light-colored tile and a simple brushed metal handrail, droplets of water clinging to its surface. Behind it, an unoccupied drum kit and guitar amps sit quietly on the dimly lit stage. Soft, diffused lighting from above casts subtle highlights on the water’s surface and gentle shadows around the tank. Captured from a slightly elevated angle with shallow depth of field, the scene feels intimate, hopeful, and celebratory, emphasizing the playful, life-giving spirit of River of Life without showing any people.

He heals the Broken Heart - Psalm 147:3

Our Vision

We believe that God has given us a divine mandate to bring a message of healing, hope, and restoration to Edwardsville and the greater Saint Louis area.

There are two words that describe what God has put in us. The first is Vision — vision for the Church, the community, and the ongoing promotion of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The second is Excitement — we are excited about serving the Lord, loving people, and living life to the full.

The River of Life exists to fulfill the great commission given by our Lord Jesus Christ before He ascended into Heaven (Matthew 28:18–20). Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  • We are about making disciples
  • We are a place where the broken can find healing
  • We are a family of believers that strives to walk in love and honor one another
  • We are intent on being true worshippers, both in Spirit and Truth
  • We believe the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit are for all believers
  • We believe that marriage is between a man and a woman
  • We believe that every age group of the Church has value
  • We believe in repentance of sin and a new life in Jesus Christ
  • We believe in altar calls, praying for the sick, and seasons of revival
  • We embrace the five-fold ministry gifts found in Ephesians 4:11
  • We believe in the importance of fellowship and taking communion together
  • We believe that prayer and attending church together is vital for spiritual growth
  • We exist to help people grow in their faith and find a place to serve with the gifts Christ has entrusted to them
  • We value integrity in relationships, finances, and people’s personal privacy

You’re invited to join us for a Worship Service — we would love to connect with you.

A bright, playful church lobby in photographic realism, completely empty yet full of signs of community life. Colorful, mismatched armchairs and small round tables cluster near large windows, where golden afternoon light pours in, creating long, soft-edged shadows on the polished concrete floor. A bulletin board overflows with layered flyers and handwritten notes, while a nearby wooden welcome desk holds a glass jar of pens and a stack of invitation cards turned so their text is unreadable. Shot from a slightly elevated angle with a wide field of view, the image is crisp and detailed, with warm tones and splashes of color. The atmosphere is friendly and energetic, inviting visitors to gather, connect, and get involved.
A children’s ministry room in a church, shown in photographic realism with no people present, yet clearly ready for joyful activity. Low, brightly painted tables and small plastic chairs in red, blue, and yellow form playful clusters across a soft, patterned rug. Shelves along the wall overflow with picture books, craft supplies, and neatly labeled bins, their words turned away from the viewer. Cut-out paper fish and riverscapes decorate a soft teal wall, evoking the theme “River of Life.” Soft, even overhead lighting fills the room without harsh shadows. Captured at child’s-eye level with moderate depth of field, the scene feels fun, safe, and welcoming, emphasizing a lively sense of faith and community designed for kids and families.
A modern small-group meeting room in a church, photographed in realistic detail without any people, conveying connection and conversation through objects. A circular table of light maple wood sits at the center, covered with well-worn Bibles, spiral notebooks, colorful pens, and ceramic mugs half-filled with coffee, their surfaces catching soft overhead light. Around the table, upholstered chairs in varied, cheerful colors are slightly pushed back, as if just vacated. A large wall-mounted screen in the background displays an abstract, unreadable graphic glow. The lighting is warm and even, creating a cozy, inviting mood. Captured from a slightly elevated angle with sharp focus, the composition suggests playful discussion, Bible study, and community-building at River of Life, without featuring any human subjects.
An aerial, photographic view of a church community outdoor space beside a low, modern church building in Edwardsville, Illinois, captured with no people visible. Wooden picnic tables rest on a neatly mowed lawn, their surfaces scattered with closed board game boxes and empty paper cups, hinting at recent fellowship. String lights are draped between young trees, unlit in the soft, late-afternoon sunlight that casts long, gentle shadows across the grass. The church building’s brick and siding facade is clean and approachable, with large windows reflecting the sky. Composition follows the rule of thirds, with the building anchoring one side and the lawn filling the foreground. The mood is relaxed, playful, and community-oriented, suggesting barbecues, game nights, and casual gatherings that help people get involved.
